The short version
Your files never leave your device — processing happens in your browser. LocalFile Tools has no server that could receive a file, no database, and no account system. Everything happens in your browser. How that works, and how to verify it yourself.
What we do not collect
- Your files, or any part of them, or anything derived from them.
- Filenames.
- Accounts — there are none.
- Any data that identifies you personally.
What we collect, if you allow it
Nothing below runs unless you have granted the matching category. Both default to off, and they are separate decisions: allowing one never implies the other.
Analytics (optional)
If you allow analytics, we record aggregate, cookie-free counts of which pages and tools are used, so we know what is worth improving. Events carry only:
- Which tool was used.
- A file format, such as
image/heic. - A coarse size range, such as
1-10MB— never an exact byte count, because that would come close to identifying a specific file. - An error category, such as
corrupt-file— never the error message, and never anything about the file that caused it.
There is no cross-site tracking, no advertising profile built from it, and no sale of data.
Advertising (optional)
If you allow advertising, Google AdSense display ads are shown. Google may set cookies and process data for ad delivery and measurement under its own privacy policy. Ads are placed away from the tools — never over the drop zone, the preview, the progress bar or the download control — and never styled to resemble a button. Declining leaves every tool fully working, with no ad furniture on the page at all.
What is stored on your device
One item, in localStorage, under the key localfile.consent: your consent decision and the date you made it. Nothing else persists — your files are held in memory and released when you close the tab or start another file.
Your choices
Your rights
Under the GDPR and DSGVO you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection. In practice there is very little to exercise them against: we hold no personal data about you. Your consent decision lives on your own device and you can clear it above at any time.
If you allowed analytics and want the aggregate records removed, or have any other question, write to contact@timfx.de.
Third parties
With both categories declined, LocalFile Tools makes no third-party request at all. If you allow them, the analytics provider and Google AdSense are contacted. The WebAssembly codecs and the background-removal model are served from this site’s own origin, not from a third-party CDN — so using a tool reveals nothing to anyone else.
Changes
If we ever materially change what is collected, the stored consent version is invalidated and you will be asked again rather than silently carried over.
